30 Day Tidying Challenge • Day 11 • Electronics

Welcome to Day 11 of the #30daytidyingchallenge! This challenge runs from February 18th to March 19th, and if you're tidying with me over the next 19 days, the plan is to be finished in time for the first day of spring on March 20th (or the March Equinox if you are located in the Southern Hemisphere). This tidying challenge is based on the KonMari method, and I was hugely inspired by these three resources: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up and Spark Joy, and Tidying Up with Marie Kondo.

To help with the process, I put together this calendar, which shows all the different categories I'll be tidying during the 30 day challenge. Depending on your situation, you may want to tackle this project over a number of months, and that is totally ok too! You can still use the calendar--just follow the order, but take more time for each set of categories.

On Day 11, we'll be going through electronics--phones, cameras, headphones, cords & cables, batteries, and other such electronics.

Some thoughts on Day 11:

1) Some categories of items won't spark joy. There will be some categories of items that just don't sing to you. Electronics is one of those for me. I found it really tedious to go through these items, and none of them truly sparked joy. I understand the usefulness of the items, and I appreciate them in that sense, but they are purely functional to me. I found it difficult to tidy today.

2) Taking time to carefully tidy cords, cables, and hard drives helps relieve mental clutter. Sorting through the cords, cables, and hard drives took a lot of time. I was mentally exhausted by the end, but I'm so glad I took the time to carefully go through everything. Once I was done, I felt like I had offloaded a lot of mental clutter, and my mind felt clear and more at ease.

3) Electrical items emit a different scent. This is something I read about in Marie Kondo's books, which I found very interesting. While I didn't sniff these items myself, Lulu was fascinated with all the items I set aside to tidy today, so it must be true!

Thank you for tuning into Day 11! If you're tidying alongside me, please let me know how you're doing. I would love to hear about your journey and if you have any tips or tricks to share. I'll see you tomorrow for Day 12. :)
