TIMELINE

Jul 24/20: Introducing Philodendron 001! When I first started adding plants to our home, I was drawn towards pothos. Recently, I’ve had my mind on adding a philodendron so I could see how it compares to pothos. They are similar plants but a clear distinction is how this plant grows. I’ve been loving learning about each type of plant and seeing how they’re unique.

This philodendron is the “Brasil” variety, and I love all of the different colour variations on the leaves. I found this beauty in a rather hot east-facing window so I was worried that it would go through a difficult period adjusting to the lower light levels in our condo. Fortunately, the transition was smooth and sweet! There’s tons of new growth on this plant and I’m excited to see how it will change over time.

Sep 20/20: Given my love for pothos, I was a bit hesitant about buying Philodendren 001, but I’m so so so glad I did! It grows incredibly fast and the variegation in the leaves is stunning. This is one of my favourite plants to examine closely because there are so many point of new growth.

Sep 20/20: Philodendron 001 has grown so much in the last couple months.

Sep 20/20: The new growth is very different from Pothos plants. Instead of emerging as a bump from an existing leaf stem, a new shoot comes out.
